The program is easy to install and straightforward to navigate. It's best to begin with a simple test where you select the text you want to type. It could be an extract from Huckleberry Finn, a piece about a trip to Iceland or part of the works of Plato. This is a relatively old version of the software, but perfectly good if all you want to do is learn to touch-type or improve your accuracy. Several people can register as users, so the whole family can have a go at improving their typing. The software is based on lessons that start off teaching the keyboard positions, and get you to the point where you can touch-type. Lessons can be moved through at your own pace, and your progress is monitored with regular testing to monitor your accuracy and typing speed. There are lessons for learning the keys and for practising typing, and you can choose a lesson type you like the look of, or Mavis can make a suggestion. You can keep going with the software until you get to whatever point you have set as a personal target. If you think you are getting good, the piano might stop you in your tracks.
